BASIC SPRINKLER PROTECTION OF STORAGE OCCUPANCIES SEMINAR DESCRIPTION

This one-day program provides the participant with the latest procedures for design, layout and installation of fire sprinkler systems providing fire control and suppression for storage and warehouse occupancies.  The course will discuss in depth the sprinkler protection for General Storage and Rack Storage in accordance with NFPA 13-99. 

This is an intermediate to advanced class. 

Overview – Participants will understand the criteria required in design and sprinkler selection for the protection of storage and warehouse occupancies.

Goal – To familiarize the participant with the rules that govern storage occupancies and the NFPA Standards that contain those rules.

Learning Objectives – Participants will learn to:

  • Familiarize themselves with the rules
  • Identify commodities
  • Define and recognize different pallets
  • Familiarize themselves with the use of area density curves
  • Understand the use of Large Drop and ESFR sprinklers
  • Understand the terms used in rack storage configurations
  • Protecting plastics

  • Protection of plastic in General Storage
  • Definitions and terminology for Rack Storage
  • Sprinkler protection for Class I-IV commodities 25 feet or less in height
  • Sprinkler protection for Class I-IV commodities over 25 feet height
  • Sprinkler protection for plastics
