HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED IN ORGANIZING?
" How can I be an active part in organizing in Local 699? "
The answer is as close as a phone call to the union hall. Member volunteers are
encouraged to assist in the organizing efforts in our union, but you need to
work in sync with the leadership of the local to reach success. Organizing
works only when we all make a concerted effort to bring new people into our
membership, and educate them on the benefits of membership in our local.
In the period between 1990-1995, over 13,000 new members were organized into the
United Association. During this time there were nearly 1,100 shops organized and
over 6,200 jobs, which generated over $565,000,000.00 in wages fringes paid to
members.
Organizing keeps our union strong and healthy. Get involved with our organizing
efforts today.
